Katie's Wedding

My darling cousin Katie finally got her wedding last December. She was married to Don a year and a half before but two weeks after their small wedding he was deployed to Iraq. He is home now, safe and sound and they had the "real wedding". I recently received some pictures from her and even though it is September I wanted to share them!!! Taylor was the ring bearer and Halle was a flower girl. I can't even type that sentence without laughing. It was very eventful to say the least......

So this is Halle tripping down the aisle and falling flat on her face. After that there was no way she was going down that aisle. My aunt motions me to pick her up and walk her down. So there I go, pretending I am a bridesmaid, smiling as Halle wails.... but that is not even the worst of it!! So Taylor and the flower girl are at the back left to their own devices. Some how, as all of this commotion with Halle is going on the other flower girl decides to go down the right side of the guests, proudly spreading her flowers. Dutifully, Taylor follows her with the rings, down the side aisle. I sit down with Halle and realize "oh crap" Taylor! I run back and see Taylor and the flower girl twirling in circles on the side of the room. Me and my cousin Ryan try to round them up to send them down the real aisle when we realize THE RINGS ARE MISSING FROM THE PILLOW! Of course, with all the twirling and all! Me and Ryan get down on our hands and knees and crawl around searching, swearing, searching for the rings, (please, please, my kids have just ruined this wedding, my eyes are filled with tears as I crawl around). Meanwhile, the only people that know what is going on are the guests on the side, so this is a big delayin the freeking processional. Poor Katie is watching this from the back but can't do a darn thing about because she will be exposed before her walk down the aisle! All of a sudden, I find a ring and Ryan finds a ring, GLORIOUS! With no time to fasten them to the pillow, we push Taylor down the aisle and he delivers the pillow to the groom bearing no rings. The look on Don's face was sheer terror as he looks at his mother in law thinking "what the hell do I do now?" Just then Ryan saved the day, running around the side, holding up the rings,"I got em". Everyone bursts out laughing and I sink in my chair in a sheer frenzy. I still apologize for these events but I am assured by my Aunt Cathy and Katie that this is what will be memorable about their wedding. Well, I am so glad my kids could produce such "memorable" memories.

Taylor, always the lady's man.

Yeah, this pretty much sums up Halle's performance as a flower girl. Even the sucker wouldn't bribe her for a picture.

*The family

Taylor let loose, who needs shoes? Who needs a tux? Nothing gets in the way of dancing!
